Design of Xian Lake (Fairy Lake) Botanical Garden

Covering 1,349 acres, Xian Lake (Fairy Lake) Botanical Garden is situated in Luohu District, Shenzhen, China, at the base of Wutong Mountain and near the Shenzhen Reservoir. The garden houses over 17 special-category living plant collections and more than 8,000 plant species. It also contains the National Cycad Conservation Center, which preserves cycads from 3 families, 10 genera and 240 species, ranking second worldwide. This botanical garden uniquely blends Chinese garden traditions with local characteristics. Its design, by the Landscape Design Institute of Beijing Forestry University—Meng Zhaozhen, Bai Rixin, Huang Jinqi, Yang Laili and He Fang—was awarded the Global Landscape Architecture Grand Award in 2026.
